About Deal Mediation

Deal Mediation is owned and managed by Dr Paul Wheatley, a CEDR-accredited civil/commercial mediator and an active founding member of the Association of Cambridge Mediators.

Paul's experience of mediations includes sale of various businesses, customer-supplier issues including importer-distributor, printer-publisher and retailer-consumer problems, building disputes and probate cases. On behalf of ACM, he regularly convenes dispute mediations and also serves on ACM's "Feedback Committee" dealing with customer satisfaction.

Before focussing on mediation, Paul had spent almost twenty years in electronics, telecoms and IT, progressing from technical to commercial roles and into management. He is an experienced general manager and company director.

He still offers consultancy at a strategic business planning level in this domain. He is an active investor and also a Board observer, representing a consortium of private investors, at Intamac Systems Ltd., an internet home monitoring/security company.

Paul was employed by BT from 1988 to 2003 where he was:

• General Manager, BT (Worldwide) Netherlands
  • Managing Director, Intrax Satellite Services BV/GmbH
  • non-executive director of various BT operational and holding companies with net assets > €800m
• seconded to Telfort, BT's JV in the Netherlands, for five years:
  • Director, Operational Planning and Performance
  • Director, Finance and Business Planning, Mobile
  • Business Manager, Networks & Systems
  • Implementation Project Manager for start-up of Telfort
• Manager, Competitor Technology Analysis Unit
• Competitor Technology Analyst
• Senior Development Engineer

Before joining BT, Paul was with PA Consulting Group and before that with CGR Ultrasonique in France.

After leaving BT, Paul completed a Law degree and went on a world tour. On returning, he made a lifestyle choice to balance family commitments with interesting work. Across 2004-05, he was part-time VP EMEA with Ceremon Inc, a privately held IT consultancy/SI.

Paul also has a degree and Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
